What is hypnosis?

The British Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis says:

"In therapy, hypnosis usually involves the person experiencing a sense of deep relaxation with their attention narrowed down, and focused on appropriate suggestions made by the therapist."

These suggestions help people make positive changes within themselves. Long gone are the days when hypnosis was seen as waving watches and controlling people's minds.

You will probably be amazed by just how many different issues with which hypnotherapy can help.

Sessions are conducted in a friendly, relaxing environment. Rather than thinking of going into a trance, I prefer my clients to think of entering a deeply relaxed state. During this state, clients can experience feelings of heaviness, floating, tingling sensations or in some cases not very much at all; it various greatly from person to person.

People often ask ‘What if I can’t be hypnotised?’ Well, the answer to this is that most people can be hypnotised if they really want to be. During the session you will only relax as deeply as it is right for you to do so at that particular time. The client is always fully in control during the session and the role of the therapist is gently to guide the client.
